Lengthen a skirt block with Jenniffer's super handy photo guide!
When designing a skirt, you first need to pick a shape. There are many options to choose from but they all start with your basic block. So, make a master copy of your basic skirt block in card so that it will last and can be repeatedly used to copy from – the copies will then be adjusted to make your new designs and you may want to consider changing the length. Follow the steps below to learn how.
Jenniffer says: Your block doesn’t come with seam allowances! Depending on your skirt shape and design, you may want to place your centre-front along the fold of the fabric giving you a single front pattern piece, or away from the fold to create two front pattern pieces, which will need a seam allowance adding. The type of fixture or fastening you choose may also affect this, so make sure you double-check, and remember to add allowances before cutting out any fabric.This tutorial has been extracted from Your Skirt, Your Way by Jenniffer Taylor.
