Hi, I’ve been sewing for around 18 months now (I love it), and have been making bags, bunting, hats and vest tops for my partner. I’d like to try making simple clothes for myself but as a man I’m finding it harder to find simple patterns. Any suggestions please? Thanks, Neil

I was going to suggest PJ’s too as they are fairly straightforward and can be adapted into joggers/lounging wear just by simply changing the fabric from cotton to maybe a fleece and they don’t have to be a perfect fit. You can just put elastic or a drawstring around the waist and then pull the elastic to fit before completely sewing the gap in the channel the elastic goes through. You can even put an elastic channel around the bottom of each leg too to fit snuggly around the ankle or buy some ribbed cuffs and add those instead. I made a lovely soft fleece pair of pj bottoms for my Dad and he loves to wear them in the evening watching the tv especially in colder weather. Best of luck. 😊

Hi, trying my first quilt and need to know if the sizes given for cutting out the small pieces of material include the seam allowance or do I have to add it on myself. Thanks.
Laura replied: 23 Jan 26 at 09:08
The sizes given would usually include the seam allowances ….try a block in some spare material first to check your size of a finished block before cutting in to your chosen quilt fabric.

where can I find my 2 years subscription code?
barb replied: 18 Jan 26 at 04:52
Did you buy it from sewing street? If so you would have got an email with the code. This came from the hysc. Look for an email entitled welcome to the half yard sewing club. This would have been shortly after you bought the subscription.

Why can't I see the magazine ?
barb replied: 15 Jan 26 at 14:18
Maybe use a different browser on the phone? I have just checked on a phone on a chrome browser and it opens and works perfectly. As do the projects. But I must add that I would not want to read the magazine on a phone, or indeed follow project instructions on a phone. Its possible, but not ideal. Maybe go to a library to look through the whole site on a computer there to see how it works and what's on offer. Sounds like this may be device related.

My membership is due for renewal soon and wondered if there was a code for a special offer via sewing street available at the moment.
Mel replied: 16 Jan 26 at 17:56
You would need to go to sewing street website for that. However, if you do not renew your membership, often HYSC will send you a decent incentive to renew. Eg £10 off annual membership. It’s worth the lapse in membership to get that discount.
