Hello to everyone. Has anyone made the Small Square Bag, with a bamboo handle, from Debbie's other website? In the picture it is a gold coloured background fabric, with pink and green flowers on. Is there enough width at the sides to fit hardware on, as I would like to put a fabric handle, instead of the bamboo type. Thank you.

Anyone had a email saying payment due the end of June? I am a new member who has paid and subscribed for the 2 years...
HYSC replied: 23 Jun 25 at 08:44
Hi all, sorry for any confusion. If you can see you are on the 2 year membership in My Account then don't worry; this is the renewal reminder that we mentioned in the redemption email - "You may receive monthly emails from our payment portal counting down the balance on your account. You will not be charged while on a code membership. You can check the status of your membership in 'My Account'" You should just receive an invoice for £0 when it comes through.

Hi, which thread do you use when dressmaking ? Aurofil or gutterman? Thanks x
Debbie replied: 23 Jun 25 at 14:52
Personally I use Gutterman and a=save my Aurufil for quilting, but either will do the trick!

Hi. I'm new to dress making and found that now I've washed my material it is really hard to cut in a straight line. Any tips please
Laura replied: 24 Jun 25 at 08:17
You could give your fabric a spray of Best Press or spray starch when you iron after washing to give a bit more body to the fabric while you are cutting. Hope this helps 😊

I am making the wide leg trousers but the linen fabric I chose is see-through. I would like to line them but can't find any instructions on how to do this. Are there any tips on this site?
Laura replied: 24 Jun 25 at 08:39
I don’t think it covers lining of garments on this site ..I did copy this from the internet “ Cut out the lining pieces with the same seam allowances as for the fabric pieces. Transfer all markings from the pattern pieces to the lining. Pin the right side of the lining pieces to the wrong fabric side of the front trouser pieces and baste round all edges. Then treat these pieces as one layer of fabric.” Hopefully this may help. You can also buy pant slips on line (basically an underskirt/petticoat with legs 😊) so it may be worth considering purchasing that as a solution to wear with any wide legged trousers.

Every time I try to download a pattern I’m asked to sign in again and again and again. I gave up after the third attempt today. I’ve tried before with the same outcome. It’s very frustrating
Belsew replied: 11 Jul 25 at 14:24
I am having the same problem, it certainly isn’t an easy site to work from

I would like to make the wide leg trousers, but when I measure I'm size 20 in the waist and size 26 in the hips. So I don't know what Size to cut out. My first time trying.
barb replied: 19 Jun 25 at 06:42
I would start with printing the the size 26 pattern and make some adjustments to the waist Then make it up with an old sheet, some very cheap fabric, or something from the charity shop . Then having made it up adjust further before making the real thing up Hope this helps
