Morning sewers making a table runner for the first time and using fusible craft fleece and then thinking will have a go at the quilting. The fleece will need piecing together in two as not wide enough, I assume that’s normal unless I’d got a 2m piece and works ok. Also do I do the quilting bit before the back is sewn on or after, therefore the three layers are quilted please? Many thanks

Ah thank you Laura. I have never quilted before and thinking now I need to learn more about it. Looked at a few videos last couple days so might save this one for another time instead of rushing into something I know nothing about and make a proper plan. I’m so gun ho haha!

Having just finished no 12 BOTM I am now putting it together but can't find a template for the birds. Do we have to design our own ?

I was impatient and put mine together. Will add the birds when the template arrives. I also replaced the EPP clam shell beach section as I didn’t enjoy that process and wasn’t happy with my result. I did some curves and used some interfacing and turned them and I’m happier with that result. Looking forward to finishing it next month with the birds and then quilting it all

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I have been out of sewing for most of the year due to operations on my hands. But now can start again, and understand the code for discounts on any orders has changed. Anyone have problems with Singer HD5523 heavy duty? I have had only a fortnight and gone through 11 needles, all which have been suitable for fabric I am using. The needles either bend or just snap completely in half. I haven't used excessively I have emailed singer as its only just 4 weeks old of which only used two weeks. The self thread doesn't work now either it seems its not in line. I am suspecting the needle is not sitting in right place but wondered if it was a common problem and also what machine do you use please if you are happy with it,trying to gauge the most popular and well respected out there in the community, thank you

I want to make a Christmas present to someone who's disabled and has trouble moving and holding on to things. Just something that she can use and enjoy. She lives in another city so I can't do measurements and stuff. I've gifted her a cushion previously so it'll have to be something else and the simpler to make the better. Thanks xx

I made my brother a bag for his wheelchair, he always have everything he needs in there, and he loves it. But, of course, you'll need to know where to hang the bag so that it's not bothering, and the wheelchair measurements in this specific area. I also made a quilt for him, it's still on his bed, and last christmas, I made the stained glass window from the HYSC, it's in his bedroom, he was very happy to have something colourful to hang there. Of course, it's not easy to give ideas without knowing what your friend likes.

Hello Half Yarders wonder if can help. When I make a box bottom in a bag sometimes used a piece fabric that’s just folded and not cut/seamed at the bottom as in the sides but then find doesn’t quite sit together to make a neat seam. Has anyone else found this and or know a way around it apart from cutting bottom open just to sew again. Hope this makes sense to everyone 🤞

Ah thank you Laura you are a hive of info, absolute star with all the generous help you offer everyone. Makes total sense as explained. Have racked my brains as how to cut to compensate and never entered my head to work from the seam allowance. Xx
