There are generally no videos for block of the month. one or two have featured in the monthly ' lives' but that's not always the case.

Hi can someone help please on block 4 of the month step 2 says measure at 3? intervals, but step 3 says cut 10 x 3 1/2? strips. How can you get 3 1/2? strips from 3? markings? Am I misunderstanding something? thanks.
barb replied: 18 Apr 24 at 16:55
Step 2 does not say to measure at 3 inch intervals. It says to draw a line , horizontally, on the fabric 3 inches from the seamline. (parallel to the seamline). You may need to expand the photo on step 2 a bit but you can see the horizontal line on the white material and the grey patterned material. On step 3 you cut into strips VERTICALLY - 10 x 3 1/2 inch strips. Hope this helps.

FABRIC BOWLS: We don't have G700 here but we have the kind of interfacing that you would use in a garment collar or neck facing for a blouse . We have the soft and the medium in that. We call it Pellon. Would that work please to stabilise the bowls? Thank you for your soonest response. Blessings.

Hello, me again. I am making Debbie?s sewing machine cover and mat etc. that came in a pack. I am struggling to sew the hexagons in the right place as the foot blocks the view . Could I sew without using a presser foot at all because I could see where the needle should go then? Thank you as always. Julia
Julia replied: 18 Apr 24 at 09:25
Laura, Ah ha! Never thought of that! I am very new - even though I am old - to sewing . Thank you very much I will have look and see what was given with my machine. Up until now I have just been trying to sew close to the edge in a straight line. Best wishes Julia

Hi! Am I being dense here, but what is the point of Block of the month 4, Steps 6-8 please, I cant see the logic in cutting a piece off to re sew when if you cut the top/bottom edges you get the same result don't you? Any advice welcome please. Thanks.
barb replied: 13 Apr 24 at 15:23
If you look at the 2021 BOTM this may help explain the technique. Its all about lining up straight . examples below. One with a video. Hope this helps https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/projects/block-of-the-month-2021-block-8-dominoes https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/uploads/projects/HYSC-BOTM-2021-Feb-Instruc-Opt.pdf

I uploaded an image to this month?s BOTM last week and having a look through the images today at other members? makes I noticed mine was no longer there. I?ve now uploaded again. Why would it have disappeared in the first place? Do they get taken down for any reason? I took my image in panorama mode, is that an issue? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Claire, I will do

Hi Everyone. Just wondering if you could answer a question for me please. I?m working on the sun for the block of the month, panel 3. Do I overlap the paper pattern or do I butt up the 2 sides to make the circle. Thank you.
Laura replied: 9 Apr 24 at 22:47
Hi ?you join the lines and tape ?the lines shouldn?t overlap. I have attached Debbie?s tip video on using printed patterns as she shows how to join the pieces here https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/tips/using-printed-patterns I hope this helps.
