I definitely need to lengthen the summer blouse, how far up from the bottom of the pattern pieces would you suggest I cut it to add length.

If the pattern hasn’t got lengthening lines marked on it I would just add to the required length of the pattern using a ruler and following the shape of the sides.

Hi my daughter has asked me to fix her dress. It is made of cheesecloth and the material has come away from the seam, almost torn and frayed. The other side of the seam looks quite weak too. What is the best way of fixing this? It’s a long summer dress and the seam goes down the back. Many thanks in advance!

The coordinating strip idea is the one for me, or even some wide binding or ribbon type strip. You could add a decorative stitch on the fabric before sewing it on. This will stabilise and cover the fraying seam. Good luck.

Hello, I got a Whatsapp and email telling me that there was a new project and digital newsletter No.6 out on Thursday but it doesn't appear in my members page and I don't want to download large files on my phone. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Julia, it will start at 4pm on the homepage, the timer is counting down to the start. if you can’t see at 4pm, refresh the page making sure you are still logged in (if you’ve been logged on for a while it sometimes logs you out)Hope that helps.

My printer dosn't let me print 100%for patterns will I have to buy a new one and which one do you recomend?

I find that when I select the print option on my printer (an old one), there is a dropdown option that says 'more settings'. When I click on that I get the option to say print at 100% or actual size. I very much doubt you need a new printer, despite it's age (unless of course it has broken lol!). Otherwise, you could always print at your local library for a small fee.

I already own many of Carolyn Forster's books and they are always written in a clear and concise way. I feel the 1930s Quilts book is on another level. With beautiful photography and close ups of the quilts, I feel inspired to get started and make many of the quilts straight away. At the beginning of the book, there is a foreword by the Head Curator of the American Museum of Bath, Kate Herbert and then several pages written by Carolyn on the history of 1930s quilts and why they have inspired her. This, for me, was very interesting to read. It also inspires me to visit the Bath Museum sometime soon. Then there are pages of beautiful quilts to make, together with full-size templates included in the back of the book. You can trace the pattern pieces off from the pattern pages and get started on any project. You can also download the templates for free from the Bookmarked Hub website (details are at the back of the book) and print them at home with a printer. Each quilt in the book has a background piece written beforehand and there are lots of tips and hints on how to make the quilts and a large section on Patchwork and Quilting Basics. There is also lots of information on what is required to make each quilt and tips on things like using white fabric as backgrounds and using small scraps. There is so much delicious colour all the way through the book, it is a pleasure just to look through it. The only negative thing I would say personally about the book is that it is a hardback book and whilst this makes it a good quality book and gorgeous to grace any coffee table, I found it rather heavy to sit and browse through on my lap. I am quite happy however, to sit at a table with a nice cup of tea and enjoy looking at the lovely pictures and dream about my next quilt project. With so much information inside, I think it is suitable for quilters of all levels. There is no EPP or FPP in this book, only machine piecing patchwork and hand piecing.
