Thank you Laura but Debbie mentioned on yesterday’s live to look at the HYSC Facebook page. When I looked it showed a members page as well but there was nothing to get into. So thanks for clearing that up. I am already on the Debbie Shore Sewing one too.

The HYSC Facebook page is the one linked to this page. Click on the Facebook icon at the top or the bottom of this site depending what device you are on. That takes you to the page. It’s not a closed group and anyone can view or post.

There is no HYSC only members page on Facebook but the HYSC admin team have a page for notifications and questions etc. Debbie has a Facebook page called Debbie Shores Sewing Shop where you can join a closed group and post pictures of your makes and make comments etc. Hope this helps 😊

Yes a continuous zip would be fine ..you could add 2 zip pulls if you wanted the same effect as on Debbie’s bag. The ideal fabrics are listed in the introduction but I am sure most fabrics would work if interfaced appropriately.

Hi Laura, sorry for the late reply. I have looked at the video on vimeo and the front and back seem the same width but both the pattern pieces and the bosal come with a wider back than the front the back measuring 14ins and the front 10ins. This seems such a waste of materials if the back is cut down to match the front is this how the bag is made?

Ok ..do check out the video that I linked to you as it may give you some more clues. They don’t seem to need to trim down any pieces during the make so don’t want you to trim unnecessarily. Hope it works ok.

Hi, I have everything I need to make the Shelly bag but I am confused by the fact the back is wider than the front. Will this 'sort' itself out when the gusset is in place? I am new to bag making and don't want to start cutting until I am sure. Thank you for any help/advice Frances

Is the video still available on the QR code with the pattern ..might be worth having a look at that. I had a look on this You Tube video…scroll through to where they show the bag pieces are shown and it seems to me that the outers are the same width so perhaps have another check of your pattern pieces. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N2ouNvikvuk

I have looked at the tips for some help with putting in a concealed/invisible zip. I have seen the tip on a centered zip would this be the same method please?

No they are not the same as a centred zip uses a standard zipper and an invisible zip uses a zipper where the coils bend backwards and you do not see them on a finished item. You use a special machine foot for an invisible zip and it gives a nice finish on clothes and cushions etc. An invisible zip is surprisingly easy to install when you get your head around the method.
